Just a little tighter
Grace seems to hold on a little bit tighter as I walk her around the house this week. She's been sick with a really bad head cold since the 16th or so. Then last Sunday she broke out into a horrible rash from head to toe. I hate for her to be sick but I like the extra help she gives when carrying her around. 30 pounds of kid can get tiring when you have no help from her. Imagine carrying 30 pounds of rice or sugar to her room to change her diaper, back to the livingroom, to the car, out of the car, back into the house, to the livingroom, back to the diaper changing table, to the dining room, back to the changing table... ok I have moved some diapers and wipes to the livingroom. Point is, when she helps by holding on even slightly, her "dead" weight feeling is less. And I like the extra "hug-feel" I get.

Holding my hand
Grace is feeling really yucky. She has had a very stuffy head and major cold for the past several days. Because she doen't know how to blow her nose, the cold has not moved out of her head at all. Tonight when I laid her down to bed, she rolled toward me and reached out for my hand and I felt like she squeezed it. A few minutes later she reached again and got the sleeve covering my arm. She moved her hand down to my hand and again, I felt her hold tighter. Maybe, just maybe......I'll believe it.

Time for bed or dad?
It's after 7pm and I keep asking Grace if she wants to go to bed. "No," she says by pulling her hands back to her body and looks away. She IS tired, I say, but won't go to bed. She's ansy about something. Andy just got back from a trip this evening. After a bit, he walks past the chair I am holding Grace in and I ask Grace if she wants daddy. Yep! Immediately she pats her chest with a "please." So they go sit on the couch for another 15-20 minutes. The Friday night movie ends and I ask Grace if she wants to go to bed, now? Yes, "please" she signs by patting her chest. She needed a bit of dad before she went to bed.
